Asunción Álvarez-del-Río

Biography

Asuncion received her master's degree in Clinical Psychology and her PhD in Science, main field Bioethics, both from the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de México (UNAM). She is professor and researcher at the Psychiatry and Mental Health Department, Faculty of Medicine, UNAM. Her lines of research are “Death in the Medical Practice” and “Ethical dilemmas related to the end of life”. Author of Euthanasia. Practice and Ethics and Co-editor of Bioethics’ Challenge [both books in Spanish]. Member of the Board of the National Bioethics Commission from 2005 to 2009, and Academic Secretary of the Colegio de Bioetica from 2006 to 2012.
